Smarter Concrete for projects across Australia

Concrete has existed for centuries, yet advancements and innovations remain achievable. At Virtus Concrete, we are always looking for new ways to make concrete work harder for you. That means surfaces that last, cope well with rain and suit the way Australians live and build today.

For us, it is not about fancy words. It’s about fixing real problems on real job sites, be it a family driveway in Melbourne or a busy car park or a civil road anywhere in Australia.

Our Patented Permeable Concrete System

Our Patented Permeable Concrete System

Concrete that lets water through happens to be our biggest idea: normal concrete is hard, so water just runs off it. Our permeable concrete is full of little holes, so the rain can soak down into the ground instead.

To create a surface that effectively drains while remaining sturdy for vehicles, an innovative system is essential. In this regard, Virtus Concrete has been emerging as one of Australia’s trustworthy names when it comes to patented permeable concrete paving solutions.

The system is based on patented admixtures. An admixture is a special ingredient added to the concrete mix to change the way it behaves. We have a key role in the way our mix is designed to drain well and stay strong.

Custom Mixes for Any Job

Every site is different. A backyard pathway, a family driveway, and a commercial car park are all different in loads and different conditions. And that’s why we don’t have one recipe for everything – we come up with custom mix designs instead.

Before we pour, we look at the use of the surface, the volume of water it will need to accommodate, and the finish you want. “Then we put together a mix that works.

Smart Can Still Look Clever

Smart concrete doesn’t have to be plain. We provide our permeable surfaces in a variety of colours, textures and finishes so you can choose a style to complement your home, business or public area. You get a good drainage surface that looks good at the same time.”

Right Tools and Techniques

A great mix is only great if you mix it properly. Permeable concrete is made differently to normal concrete, so we use specialised placing equipment and techniques designed for this.

Our trained installation teams know how to prepare the base, get the levels right and finish the surface so that it drains as it should. If you have questions on site, our technical support team at the head office is available to help.

Various Methods to Allow Water In

Permeable concrete is not the only solution we have to offer. We can also install: Depending on the look you want and your site, we can also install:

Permeable Resin Bound Stone: Smooth and decorative surfacing available in plain or coloured finishes, ideal for driveways, pathways and outdoor areas.

Gravel Grids: Durable structures designed to stabilise gravel, prevent movement and provide a solid surface while allowing rainwater to drain through.

Permeable Pavers: Durable paving solutions designed to allow water to drain through and between the pavers, helping reduce surface water buildup.

How We Deliver It To Your Facility

01

We discuss your project, how you’ll use the space, and what you like.

02

We review surfaces, levels, and drainage to choose the right system.

03

We prepare the surface and install the base and finished surface.

04

We inspect the finished surface together to make sure it’s right.

Planet-Friendly Innovation

And every new idea we use has got to make sense for the environment too. Our permeable concrete mix solutions and services are designed to meet WSUD (Water Sensitive Urban Design) guidelines. This allows builders, developers and councils to manage stormwater on site, resulting in less runoff, less flooding, cleaner creeks, rivers, and bays.

Tested on Actual Projects

New ideas are only good if they work in the real world. Our permeable concrete is an Australian-proven technology and suitable for its unpredictable weather; it is used on driveways, footpaths, car parks and roads in Melbourne and other Australian cities.
